Knox group of companies supports Isle of Man Tennis Team

The Knox group of companies is delighted to announce that it is supporting the Isle of Man Tennis Team for the 2019 NatWest International Island Games XVIII.  The Games will be held in Gibraltar from the 6th to the 12th July.

The Island Games, which are held every two years, brings together over 2,200 athletes and officials from 24 islands to compete across a diverse range of sports, including athletics, cycling, swimming, sailing, basketball and tennis.

The Isle of Man Tennis Team are looking to build upon their successes at the 2017 Gotland games, where the women’s team won the Island’s first ever team gold medal. Representing the women’s team in Gibraltar will be Karen Faragher, Laura Feely, sisters Elena and Hannah Snidal and the team’s youngest player, 20-year-old Katie Harris.  The men’s team will be represented by Marc Chinn, Sean Drewry, James Buxton and current IOM men’s doubles champion, Rob Comber, who will be playing at his first Island Games in Gibraltar.

Tim Eve, Deputy Chairman, Knox group of companies, said: “The Isle of Man has a strong sports heritage, so naturally we wanted to get involved with the Island Tennis Team and help support their bid for success in Gibraltar.  Events such as the Island Games work well to promote the profile of the Island’s sporting talents at an international level, so we are delighted to be in a position to offer our support.  On behalf of the Knox group of companies we wish the whole team the very best of luck and will be closely following their successes.”

The Knox group of companies have supplied the nine member squad and their manager with a variety of branded kit for the games, including playing tops, sports caps, towels and rucksacks, as well as contributing to their travel costs.

Team Manager, Daphne Snidal, was on the organising committee for the inaugural Inter Island Games back in 1985.  She also competed in women’s volleyball, before switching to Tennis where she has undertaken the role of Tennis Manager since 2011.  Commenting on the support from the Knox group of companies, Daphne said: “On behalf of everyone at IOM Tennis I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Knox group of companies for their generous donation to our team. We really appreciate the support and look forward to competing in Gibraltar.

Without support such as theirs, we would not be able to compete at an international level, which raises the profile of Isle of Man Tennis and inspires our younger players.”
